Facilities

Tiny Town

It is an area of the Hub we have turned into a small town with 6 different ‘shops’. We have a police station, a café, a mini nursery, a builders yard (which had to be called Adam’s Yard!) a supermarket and a vet’s surgery which is sponsored by Dr Mbatshi’s Vet Pro and so we have called Vet Pro Junior. There is a large dressing up area with costumes to match each area as well as a whole host of others. [A note to parents - we have made sure that some of the costumes are universally sized so you can also get into character – the superhero capes and masks will definitely fit everyone!]

The Studio

The Studio is a brilliant space that is very adaptable. Our Fitness Director, Phillida, uses it for different fitness sessions and personal training. She works you hard but tailors the session to your needs. a range of fitness classes take place each day. The space is also used for different classes run by Managing Director, and teacher, Abigail. We offer a wide range of activities including a Parent and toddler group, Mamas and Babas, a homework club and STEM clubs. When not in use, it is available for hire by other groups or for fun events like children's birthday parties or a baby shower for a   mum-to-be!

Soft Play

Our soft play is great fun for many different ages and abilities. We use it for a variety of activities at the Honeycomb Hub, but you can also hire it for use at your party or event. Full details available here.

The Hub

We know that sometimes just sitting down for five minutes can be a luxury for a parent so while your children play in TIny Town or the free play area, you can enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee courtesy of St Leonard's Church, UK. We also have a selection of cold drinks and homemade cakes or biscuits available for a donation.

Book Corner and Play Area

Our book corner is filled with books for all ages,

  • books for parents including baby names, training a teenager, baby food recipes and mindfulness

  • puzzle books and novels for older children

  • hard-page books for little ones (though we understand that occasionally a page may get accidentally torn and keep a stack of tape at the ready just in case),

  • a series for beginning readers

  • a whole host of picture books.

Our storytelling chair was great fun to design and we have a story wizard (you can tell this person by their hat, even if their features may change – they are a wizard after all) who reads different stories for free at 11am each day. We also have a range of toys and puzzles for various ages when your little one wants something a bit more active to do. This is all available for anyone to drop in and use for free any time the Hub is open.

Green credentials

We wanted the Honeycomb Hub to be as eco-friendly as we could manage.

  • The building has solar panels which produce the majority of our electricity.

  • We saved all our recycling for months to fill the shelves of the supermarket in Tiny Town.

  • Our sensory plants are all potted in up-cycled tins

  • Much of our furniture has been built from recycled wooden pallets

Locally grown vegetables

Eco-fresh offer bags of locally grown vegetables and herbs that can be collected from the Honeycomb Hub every Thursday. Each bag contains 7 vegetable items, 1 bunch of herbs and 1 dozen eggs for P140
